What is Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage Casserole?

Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole primarily includes Jimmy Dean pork sausage, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and seasonings such as salt, black pepper, and dry mustard.

The first step is to cook the Jimmy Dean pork sausage until cooked through. Then, you mix it with pepper, bread, and cheese.

To make the egg mixture, mix eggs with milk and your favorite seasonings.

Then, to assemble the casserole, you pour half of the sausage mixture and top it with some of the egg and milk mixture. Then, you keep layering the sausage mixture with the egg and milk mixture until you use them all up.

Finally, the casserole is baked for about 50 minutes or less, making sure to check the casserole 5 or 10 minutes before the recommended time has elapsed.

    Recipe Variations:

    • Jimmy Dean sausage breakfast casserole with hash browns: This version of a sausage casserole uses hash browns. You can use frozen shredded hash browns or simply use a homemade version by chopping the potatoes to add to the egg mixture.
    • Jimmy Dean sausage breakfast casserole without bread: For this version, simply eliminate the bread. You can instead add other ingredients such as carrots, peas, and small cubed potatoes.
    • Jimmy Dean sausage breakfast casserole with crescent rolls: In this recipe, you will stuff the sausage mixture into the crescent roll dough and then bake them. I recommend you add mozzarella cheese for cheesy sausage crescent rolls.
    • Jimmy Dean sausage breakfast casserole with tater tots: In this recipe, you will layer the baking dish with frozen tater tots and then top them with the sausage mixture before topping them with more tater tots and cheese. I recommend that you use mozzarella.

How to Store Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage Casserole

    In the Fridge:

Properly stored, cooked Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole will last for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator. To maximize the shelf life of the casserole for safety and quality, store it in batches in shallow airtight containers or wrap the whole casserole tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic wrap.

    In the Freezer:

Even though Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole doesn’t have a very long shelf life when frozen, you can store it safely in the freezer for up to 2 months without worrying about the taste diminishing too much.

How to Reheat Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sausage Casserole

    In the Oven:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
    2. Split the leftover Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole into servings.
    3. Place the Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole in the oven and reheat it for about 20 minutes or until hot throughout.

    In the Microwave:

The most effective way to microwave Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole is to place it in a microwave-safe dish and cover it loosely with aluminum foil (check the packaging of your aluminum foil to make sure it’s microwave-safe).

Cover your casserole dish with foil instead of plastic wrap, as plastic wrap may melt in the microwave. Alternatively, you could also put a plate on top of the dish instead.

Generally, 2 minutes is more than enough time to reheat the casserole. Microwave it in 30-60 second increments until it is warmed to your liking.

    In the Air Fryer:

    1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 F.
    2. Place the leftover Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage casserole in batches in the air fryer basket.
    3. Reheat for about 3 to 4 minutes.
