    How To Cook Short Ribs On Stove

    1. Over medium-high heat, heat the oil in a large pot.
    2. Sprinkle the ribs with salt and pepper to taste, and then dust them with flour and rub.
    3. In small batches, brown the ribs in oil, adding oil as needed.
    4. Each batch should take about two to three minutes to cook.
    5. Remove the ribs from the pot and set them aside.
    6. Sauté the onions for 2 minutes in the same pot. 
    7. Add the celery and carrots and sauté for another minute. Add the garlic, bay leaves, and thyme after seasoning with salt and ground black pepper to taste. Cook for 1 more minute.
