    I'm going to be showing how to cook frozen calamari rings, either by deep-frying which u can find below or by baking it which u will see the instructions in the main recipe at the bottom of the article. Like many people, I used to think that calamari dishes are made from octopus when in reality calamari is actually made from a type of squid.

    Commonly people get confused between Octopus and calamari, but surprisingly different in taste when you serve them raw, plus different in cooking methods. Calamari means squid in Italian, In English, calamari actually is a culinary term for squid meat. Just same as pork referring to ping meat and beef refers to cow meat.

    Can you cook calamari from frozen?

    For the deep frying method you do the following:

    1. Start by removing all the packaging and place your calamari into the hot oil (180 ̊C).
    2. Then Let your frozen calamari cook for 3 minutes, until it's crispy and has a golden color.
    3. Finally, Drain your calamari on kitchen paper before you serve it.

    Do you need to defrost calamari?

    One of the keys to avoiding tough, chewy calamari is to cook it really quickly. Thus Defrosting your calamari is the first number of steps you require to do for preparing your calamari for cooking it. So you need to put your frozen calamari in a bowl with a cover and set it in the refrigerator overnight. Tho this method of thawing is effective but it's the most time-consuming.

    2. Then once the oven is hot, add your frozen calamari to the oven-safe skillet, you don't need any oil.
    3. Next, let it cook for 15 minutes until the juices are released.
    4. Finally, remove your squid from the oven.

    How long is frozen squid good for?

    If you want to freeze your uncooked squid, place it in plastic freezer bags after you clean it. And make sure to squeeze out all the air, and seal the bags tightly. You can still use it within two months. On the other hand, cooked squid may be refrigerated in a tightly sealed container for up to two to three days or can be frozen for two months.

    • Start by placing your octopus in a large pot covered with any braising liquid, for example, water.

    • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
    • 1 cup cornmeal
    • Cooking spray

    8. Then turn the rings over, then let them bake for another 5 to 10 minutes.
    9. Be careful you don't want to overbake them.
    10. Finally, begin taste testing them after 5 minutes and remove them when ready but before they become tough.
