I first learned about The Road Home Apple Tree campaign, a program that provides back-to-school supplies for Utah children, last August.
Here’s a quick recap of my thoughts…because the thought of showing up unprepared on the first day of school still gives me nightmares.
I hate to admit it, but the back-to-school needs of Utah’s homeless children has never crossed my mind while stocking up on school supplies at Target and Walmart. But thanks to Intrepid’s Road Home Apple Tree campaign, I’ll be purchasing extra school supplies this year.
The Road Home Apple Tree campaign collects back-to-school clothing, shoes and supplies for over 100 children living at the Road Home homeless shelter in Salt Lake City so those children are better prepared for the school year.
Just imagine what it might feel like to arrive to class the first day of school totally unprepared.
It would suck. Big time.
This year it’s no different. The Road Home is still in need of essential school supplies for school-age children and The Road Home Apple Tree is how they’ll make it happen.
Of course, without our help, it won’t happen.
To participate, visit one of the locations listed on TheRoadHomeAppleTree.com and select an an apple (or heck, go for a bushel) with the name of a child. Purchase the needed item (new and unused) and drop it off at any of the campaign partner locations from Payson to Layton.
Last year we did this during a back-to-school shopping trip to Old Navy and it took very little time, very little money and still produced the biggest, warmest warm fuzzies of all time.
We’re totally doing it again. Those warm fuzzies are addictive.
If you don’t have the time to go shopping (if there is such a thing), you can make a cash donation by clicking on the link or image above. You’ll still get warm fuzzies, promise.
Need a stronger kick in the pants? Watch this KSL video from last year’s Road Home Apple Tree campaign:
And now I want to buy an entire container ship of school supplies for Utah children.

Feel free to “like” is this REALLY my life? on Facebook. It won’t always earn you an extra entry in a giveaway but it will give you warm fuzzies.
