Text Message Tidbits: Sympathetic weight gain

April 22, 2010 by Emily Hill 2 Comments

Like Allison over at Petit Elefant recently posted, there’s nothing like a true friend. They supply you with timely reality checks, chocolate-filled care packages and cards that remind you “stressed spelled backwards is ‘desserts’.” I adore my BFFs (I’m lucky enough to have more than one), and I love the text messages that fly back and forth between us.

I’ve saved a few of my favorite text-message convos to share with you here and there. They may not change they world but they’ll at least make you smile.

Text-message conversation #1: Sympathetic weight-gain texts (or SWGTs for short)

April 15, 2010

ME: Can’t kick these 5 lbs & it’s really getting to me. It shouldn’t I know. We’re lucky we look the way we do blah blah blah. But even healthy eating & exercise isn’t working. A little depressed. :P

BFF: Em, I’m in the EXACT same boat! I don’t know what’s up either and unless I starve myself to lose just a couple pounds its not budging. Thanks for making me feel better, its nice not to be alone:)

ME: I hear you! Unless I starve & work out 6 days a week it sticks & even if starve it’s only 1 or 2 lbs & back on in heartbeat. I’m sorry your friendship requires the sympathetic weight gain!

BFF: No I’m sorry…but thanks for being a true friend! I love it!

ME: I love YOU!

BFF: What would I do without you? You’ve made my day!
