I didn’t know much about DreamWorks’ Real Steel except it had to do with huge metal robots in a boxing ring beating the crap—or rather, the nuts and bolts—out of each other. Oh, and it starred Hugh Jackman. Hello, HUGH JACKMAN. You know, this guy:
Nathan was all over attending the sneak peek with me before it opened in theaters, even if it meant me drooling over the eye candy. I figured he’d be drooling over his eye candy anyway (i.e., the special effects), so it was a win-win. Believe me, there’s plenty of eye candy to go around:
I fear you might be either visually or mentally challenged if that trailer doesn’t have you buying tickets for this weekend’s premier of Real Steel while you finish reading this post. (You do have a new tab open in your browser, right?) Heck, watching that makes me want to see it again. I think I’m going to have to take my girls; it’s the right thing to do as a responsible parent.
Who knew a movie about 2,000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots would win my heart, and it was just a handsome Hugh doing the winning. Max (Dakoto Goyo) and his metallic sidekick Atom had me laughing, cheering and even tearing up. I had no idea I’d love this movie so very, very much. But I did.
This was me by the time the ending credits started rolling:
Okay, that’s not me but rather Evangeline Lilly, who plays Bailey in Real Steel. But I certainly felt like standing and cheering!
One more trailer to whet your robotic whistle:
