Yes, you read that correctly. I’ve pinned & prepped something from Pinterest and it’s totally not a recipe. In fact, it’s a Christmas banner (aka “a craft”)…and one that involves cutting, folding, more folding, hot gluing, more hot gluing and tying.
That’s about four steps outside my comfort zone.
Fortunately I had my sister, a ton of glue sticks, and lots of Diet Coke and chocolate on hand.
Okay, it wasn’t that hard but three banners did require a ton of cutting and folding. And folding 24 pieces of heavy card stock accordion-style isn’t nearly as much fun as folding one thin piece of paper into a fan.
Did you notice I skipped the glittered edges? I so don’t do glitter.
After making three of these Noel Christmas banners, here are a couple tips I thought I’d pass along:
- Make your accordion folds as small as possible. The narrower the folds, the easier it is to fan them out after you’ve attached two to form a circle.
- Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller is awesome and less than $2 at Walmart. It is a heck of a lot easier to work with than glue or glue dots and looks a heck of a lot nicer than staples.
- To make those accordion circles extra secure, hot glue a small square of card stock (1″x1″) to the back after securing the letter on the front.
I say if you’re looking for a simple yet totally adorable holiday banner, this is it. Plus the step-by-step tutorial is awesome. And you can’t beat the free printables. Free printables means you have more money to spend on adhesive dot rollers, glue sticks and Diet Coke!
