Dude. I’m in a documentary commercial (aka documercial).
But before we get to that bit of fun…
By now you know our experience sleeping on a popular memory foam mattress and how long that lasted (hint: not very long). We switched to intelliBED and quickly fell in love. Side sleeping? A dream. Toxic smell? Gone. Nathan’s back pain? Noticeably alleviated. Tossing and turning? Only when my teenagers aren’t home by curfew. In fact, I recently shared the 7 reasons why I replaced my Tempur-Pedic with an intelliBED non-toxic mattress (and yes, I may have even mentioned the quality of sex).
Apparently Nathan and I aren’t (weren’t) the only ones trying desperately to get a good night’s rest. There’s an epidemic of poor sleepers—and health issues connected to poor sleep—and people don’t realize it has more to do with their mattress than their stress level, temperature of their room or what they’ve eaten within one hour of bedtime. Granted, all those things can have a negative effect on sleep quality, but the biggest contributor by far is your sleep surface.
In fact, research suggests there is a correlation between the toxic materials used in making infant mattresses and SIDS. That statement alone should make you rethink your mattress and every mattress in your home. (For more information on the studies that back up this hypothesis, click here.)
I’m a believer.
And because I’m a believer, I jumped at the crazy awesome opportunity to speak my mind along with Lauren from Empowered Sustenance and Sarah from The Healthy Home Economist in Wake Up, America! Sleep Exposed, an investigative documentary launching nationwide TODAY that reveals why your mattress may be doing more harm than good and shares insights to help you and your family sleep safe and sound.
More than just a source of frustration or inconvenience, not getting enough sleep is linked to everything from weight gain to depression to cancer. And a key reason for it could be directly beneath you every night—your bed.
If you want to learn more, including the extensive list of health issues linked to poor sleep quality, watch the full-length feature below. Just a heads up: it may have you rethinking your current mattress choice.
Just in case you’re looking for me, I flash a super cheesy, “are we filming yet?” smile at 20:33 and give you all the thoughts at 23:57.
The “not an actor” disclaimer may have made me laugh out loud because I’m obviously no actor.
