Family Night Idea #241: ‘He Named Me Malala’

February 22, 2016 by Emily Hill Leave a Comment

Back in September I shared my thoughts after watching a screening of He Named Me Malala, a documentary that tells Malala’s story—the story of how “one child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.”

If you haven’t read her book, I Am Malala, I highly recommend you add it to your must-read list ASAP.

A month later I was privileged to join Malala Yousafzai on a conference call with a few other bloggers as she talked about everything from what gives her strength when she’s having a bad day to where she sees herself in 10 years. My favorite takeaway from that conversation was this quote:

So beautiful, right?

If you didn’t get to see He Named Me Malala while in theaters, you’re in luck! The film will premiere commercial-free on National Geographic Channel this Monday, February 29th at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT.

One of my favorite takeaways from the film was the importance of the relationship between Malala and her dad. He is truly an amazing father. There’s nothing like have your dad as your biggest cheerleader.
