One of the tastiest recipes for homemade guacamole I've ever made and eaten. Yum! Adapted from Alton Brown's guacamole recipe.
Recipe type: Appetizer
Serves: 8
  • 3 avocados, halved, peeled and seed removed
  • 1 to 2 T fresh lime juice (to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ onion, diced
  • ½ jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • ½ to 1 T chopped cilantro (to taste)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  1. In a large bowl place the avocado and lime juice and toss to coat. Drain and reserve the lime juice.
  2. Add the salt, cumin, and cayenne and mash with potato masher.
  3. Fold in the onions, jalapeno (optional), tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice (or more or less to taste).
  4. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve. Refrigerate leftovers.
