I love Italian food.
Wait. Let me clarify. I love good (i.e. authentic and delicious) northern Italian cuisine. And if it's less than a 20-minute drive from my home, even better.
I can't tell if I'm more excited about Crate & Barrel coming to Fashion Place Mall or BRIO Tuscan Grille. Both are pretty yummy and make for a great evening with girlfriends, but when it comes down to it, Pasta alla Vodka trumps punch bowls every time.
What can I say? I love to eat.
Throw in some of BRIO's delicious bruschettas (Roasted Red Pepper & Fresh Mozzarella with balsamic drizzle; Chilled Tomato Caprese with a cilantro pesto; Sliced Steak with Gorgonzola Dolce and charred tomato—my fave), and I'm in heaven.
Because heaven serves northern Italian cuisine. Duh.
Lucky for me I was with a group of blogging friends for my second visit to BRIO Tuscan Grille so I was able to taste quite a few dishes including their Roasted Garlic, Spinach & Artichoke Dip (divine), Beef Carpaccio (this dish turned me into a carpaccio fan) and BRIO's Bistecca Insalata (i.e., wedge salad).
I'll definitely order the Bistecca Insalata on my next visit. And I probably totally won't share.
Speaking of my inability to share delicious food, don't plan on tasting my dessert even if I order the Dolchino Sampler. (The little butterscotch one on the left is to die for!
Who am I kidding? If I had my choice, I'd totally order the Torta Di Cioccolata. Hello...rich chocolate cake with a warm center and vanilla bean ice gelato is totally my love language.
But here's what's super extra cool about BRIO: the restaurant caters to families. The server will bring each of your children their very own pizza dough. They get to press the dough into whatever shape they'd like (Carly and Lindsey will demonstrate)...
...and then a super adorable chef will bake it in their brick oven with the toppings of their choice.
Okay, so maybe you won't have a super adorable chef but it will taste just as good, promise.
Kim went all super fancy with hers. I couldn't be more proud.
Along with free individual pizzas for the kids, BRIO Tuscan Grille at Fashion Place Mall lets kids under 12 eat FREE on Tuesdays, 4pm to close (one complementary kids' meal with purchase of an adult entree).
If you feel like you need a date night—complete with freshly grated Parmesan cheese—after taking the entire family to BRIO on Tuesday, return Wednesday evening for live music on the terrace featuring The Daniel Day Trio, a local Salt Lake jazz group. You'll hear The Daniel Day Trio every Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8:30pm during the summer.
