Thanks to an interview on Care.com, I am able to share one of my not-so-awesome mom moments with the (online) world. Madison is still traumatized and I will have guilt for life.
It doesn’t help when I’m reminded how badly I handled things. (Love you, Mom!)
Here’s an excerpt from “Breaking the News About Santa” on Care.com:
Do your kids make holiday wish lists? How do you keep a handle on spoiling children?
We changed things up a few years ago by having our kids create wish lists with four different categories: Need, Read, Want and Wear. They list things they want under each category and we choose one item from each category to give them Christmas morning. We throw in one gift from Santa (usually the best gift from their list) and that’s it-five gifts total.
My favorite question: What is the ONE reason you really hate to love the holidays?
That was a fun one to answer.
I may have referenced lighted garland and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
