Apparently I’m a DIY Diva

December 5, 2013 by Emily Hill 47 Comments

Disclosure: Blue Nile provided me with the necklace pictured below in exchange for this post. All thoughts, opinions, unicorn sweaters and new arrow necklaces are 100% mine. But I am willing to share the sweater.

I know, right? Okay, maybe the diva part fits once a month (dang hormones) and on my birthday (I celebrate for a week or two), but I was totally surprised by the DIY. Then again, maybe Blue Nile got it right with their new Leave Nothing to Chance app. I do like to do most everything myself.

Just ask my husband how great I am at playing the martyr.

The Leave Nothing to Chance app is a unique and interactive personal fashion analyzer—think personality quiz meets Fashion Week. The app uses a scientific algorithm to help identify your fashion personality. Once you complete the quiz, you get a personalized infographic about your style and a few product recommendations you can share on social media.

Think of it as the not-so-subtle hint your significant other needs so you get just what you want from your Christmas wish list.

I had a lot of fun taking the quiz. Here is a screenshot of one of my favorite questions:

…

Have you ever told someone to take their morally offensive job and shove it? If so, you’re my hero.

And then I received my personalized infographic:

And I’m pretty sure the jewelry recommendations looked something like this:

…
Blue Nile rings

…

Clockwise from top left: Three Stone Milgrain Halo Engagement Ring; Round Halo Engagement Ring; Vintage Morganite and Diamond Ring; Aquamarine and Diamond Ring

…
Nathan, you’re taking notes, right?

If you’re not in the market for a lot of bling, or you’re simply looking for the perfect gift to give your BFF, I am madly in love with the Arrow Necklace…and not just because it arrived in the cutest packaging.

How freaking adorable is this necklace?

Pair it with a unicorn sweater and you’re ready for the runway. Or a lunch date with a girlfriend.

I honestly hadn’t thought about it until now! I think I would say (if wishes were fishes) a new laptop or camera. But my more realistic choice is a knife sharpener, because I’m practical and boring! haha

I don’t really have a wish list this year. Pathetic? I’d be happy with some fuzzy socks, winter candy apple lotion and French burnt peanuts. ;)
