So there’s this Alex Boye video. And I’m in it.

If you follow me on the Instagram then you may remember my mentioning something about participating in the voice recording and filming of a new Alex Boye music video. Little did I know how very awesome that video would be.

Then again, I had to have known at least a little because the family and I are fans of Alex’s work. He creates Africanized covers of songs by everyone from Lorde and The Lumineers to Frozen’s “Let It Go.”

I just discovered his cover of OneRepublic’s “Good Life” and I’m in love with that one as well.

If Katy Perry’s “Roar” wasn’t top on your list of favorite songs, it may be after you see this video. Alex takes it, Africanizes it and then injects it with some serious heart and soul. And a lot of bloggers.

Even more awesome? He dedicates his cover of “Roar” to the kidnapped Nigerian girls and the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Love this man.

Look closely and you’ll see me a few times at the beginning in the recording studio in a hot pink shirt with white polka dots standing next to my sweet friend Kim. When the filming switches to a bunch of crazy women sporting animal-print leggings (thank you, Agnes & Dora) and white t-shirts, you can spot me best in the amphitheater dance scenes just to the right of Alex.

Maybe if I were a bit gutsier and weren’t so tall, I’d make my way front and center more often.

Did I mention those are our voices in the background? Yeah. Pretty cool.
